Behavioural Wellbeing
Choices shape behaviour. Behaviour shapes who we become.
Behavioural Wellbeing is the intentional development of the choices, habits, values, relationships, and behaviours that shape who we become and the direction of our lives.
We cannot control every situation we encounter, but we can develop greater awareness of how we respond. Choices become behaviours. Behaviours that are repeated become patterns. Over time, those patterns influence how we see ourselves, strengthen particular aspects of our character, and affect the direction of our lives.
What Is Behavioural Wellbeing?
Wellbeing is not shaped only by what we feel internally. It is also influenced by how we repeatedly choose, act, respond, relate, learn, recover, and live according to our values.
Behavioural Wellbeing provides a practical, evidence-informed framework for understanding this process. It examines how our repeated behaviours influence identity, character, resilience, relationships, leadership, and the direction of our lives. It does not suggest that every circumstance is within our control. Health, biology, hardship, relationships, opportunity, and social conditions all affect human wellbeing. Behavioural Wellbeing focuses on the areas in which awareness, responsibility, learning, support, and intentional action can contribute to meaningful growth.
Why Behavioural Wellbeing Matters
People are often encouraged to improve how they feel without fully examining the choices, habits, relationships, and patterns of behaviour that may be influencing those feelings.
Mental and emotional wellbeing matter deeply. However, sustainable growth also requires intentional action. The way we respond under pressure, treat other people, accept responsibility, learn from failure, practise discipline, and align our conduct with our values gradually shapes who we become.
Behavioural Wellbeing shifts the focus from temporary motivation toward intentional and repeated development.
It is not about becoming perfect. It is about becoming increasingly aware of the connection between our choices, our behaviour, and the direction in which we are moving.
The Behavioural Wellbeing Pathway
Situation → Choice → Behaviour → Repetition → Identity → Character → Direction
Choices
The decisions we make in response to circumstances shape our immediate actions.
Habits
Repeated behaviours gradually become patterns that influence how we live.
Character
Consistent choices and behaviours shape identity, values and character.
Direction
Over time, these patterns influence relationships, resilience, leadership and life direction.
Where Research, Leadership, and Faith Intersect
My work is informed by behavioural science, organizational behaviour, business psychology, leadership experience, and Christian faith. Research helps explain how habits, personality, values, motivation, resilience, engagement, relationships, and environmental influences affect behaviour. Leadership experience demonstrates how these principles operate under real conditions of responsibility, pressure, uncertainty, conflict, and change. Christian faith provides the moral and spiritual foundation of my work. It emphasizes truth, responsibility, character, service, renewal, purpose, and the importance of aligning belief with action.
Although my worldview is openly Christian, many of the practical principles explored through Behavioural Wellbeing can be considered and applied by people from a wide range of backgrounds.

Research and Writing
This website is a platform for the continued development, examination, and practical application of Behavioural Wellbeing.
My research and writing explore how values, choices, habits, resilience, engagement, relationships, character, leadership, and faith influence human development and long-term direction.
The Research section includes my academic work on values-based leadership, resilience, and engagement, along with research-informed writing supporting the development of the Behavioural Wellbeing framework. The Insights section translates these ideas into accessible articles for individuals, leaders, families, and organizations.
My forthcoming book, Behavioural Wellbeing, brings these areas together into a practical framework for understanding how our choices and repeated behaviours shape who we become.
Work With Dr. Lee R. Roberts
In addition to my research and writing, I work with a limited number of individuals, leaders, teams, and organizations seeking practical support in applying the principles of Behavioural Wellbeing. Each engagement is tailored to the individual or organization and may include coaching, leadership development, Behavioural Wellbeing assessments, workshops, speaking, or organizational consultation.
The work is structured, practical, evidence-informed, and focused on strengthening intentional behaviour, sound decision-making, resilience, character, and alignment between values and action.

I'd be happy to discuss whether working together is the right fit.
